I posted in another thread with a couple of good links.
Cheapoair.com does cheap flights from Kunming to HK, a little more expensive if you must fly from Beijing.
Cebu air do really cheap flights Guangzhou to Manila. Again if you need to fly from Beijing this hikes up the price a lot.
If it's just about getting out of the country, then check out air asia. I think they are the only cheap carrier flying from kunming.
Sounds like a visa issue - why not take a day jaunt across the border to vietnam, laos, or cambodia? It's a car/bus trip - short walk - see the gokm threads on "how to".
for that price, looks like seoul is your best bet.
seoul? a beer will cost you the same as a hotel would in laos. the hotel will cost more than the rest of the trip and flights
Apparently those in Beijing usually go to Mongolia for visa runs. Not sure if it still applies though.
