Nan Sha (Yuan Yang) is located 85 km (2.5 hours) south of Jianshui and 55 km (1.5 hours) west of Gejiu.

Xin Jie is located 34 km (1 hour) south of NanSha. XinJie is where you want to go if you want to see the terraced fields of Yuan Yang County.

The Hani and Yi ethnic groups live in the terraced fields of the Ailao Mountains and the Hani live in their traditional mushroom houses (Mo Gu Fang).

Habo is located 80 km (2 hours) southwest of XinJie. Habo is the place to go if you want to see the Traditional Hani Long Street Banquet held during the Hani New Year in October (Angmatu).

The terraced fields of Yuan Yang are one of the 48 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in China and one of the 5 UNESCO sites in Yunnan.

A complete tour of the Terraced Fields of Yuan Yang begins by purchasing tickets at the ticket office which is located 6 km (10 minutes) south of Xin Jie. The complete tour is 60 km long and takes about 5 hours. You can rent a van for 200-400 RMB to take you to all 4 scenic areas. Do not take a tuk tuk!

The 4 scenic areas include:

1 - Qing Kou Village.
2 - Lao Hu Zui (Tiger Mouth) scenic area.
3 - Bada scenic area.
4 - Duo Yi Shu scenic area.

Tickets used to be 100 RMB for all 4 scenic spots but I am certain they have raised the prices since being added to the UNESCO list.
