Problem is that there are many different answers to this question. Also asking the DMV will get you a different answer from each person you ask! So I conclude no one really knows (or cares) what is right.

So, based on your personal experience, please explain the moto license requirements in Kunming for..............

A GAS powered moto. i.e scooter. Looks like the e-bike but powered by a small gas engine. They come in 50, 150 or 250cc sizes.

I need to replace my e-bike with a gas one since I will be having to go too far (house to downtown).

Do I need a license of some type? Does anyone here actually have one of these that has day to day experience?

These motos are almost as common as e-bikes in Kunming. 95% have no tags and I am sure the driver has no license. But before I buy one I want to know what I am up against, either legally or the standard "not so legally" as is most things in Kunming.
