Is it possible to have educatedman banned from writing reviews? He says the food is 4 or 5 and the guesthouse has some shortcomings how does that average to zero stars. People work hard to do business here and constructive criticism helps but destroying there review scores is unacceptable. Zero stars should be reserved for those who deserve it, not O'reilly's and Lost Garden.

It seems a shame that the same rules do not apply for reviews as do the forum. Especially when educatedman makes such personal attacks in his reviews and the people harmed have little recourse for defending themselves. One good thing is if he was staying at lost garden maybe he will be leaving soon.
people can write absolutely anything they want in restaurant reviews. gok has a zero censorship policy on the restaurant reviews.
in fact, i think i'll try sneaking in my political views next to my pizza commentary.

Stupid reviews are just as bad (or worse) than fake reviews.
People should be required to take an IQ test before reviewing a restaurant.
Or better yet, the restaurants should write up reviews of their customers:
This customer only ordered a coke and has the audacity to criticize our restaurant. O stars!
This cheapskate thought it was ok to sneak in booze into our restaurant. 0 stars!
Maybe time has come to write some basic rules for writing reviews.
1. Actually need to visit the place we are reviewing.
2. If reviewing food need to order from the menu and sample the food.
3. Keep things civil and refrain from personal attacks.
4. Some places have strengths and lets face it not such great things, so spell out what is good on the menu or not so good?

Nice idea, but unenforceable, and un-policable.
If I read reviews, I usually question the extremes at either end of the scale. Overly bad reviews are sometimes the result of happening at the end of a BCD. Overly good reviews, if isolated, are also suspect.

restaurant review from HELL:
that mexican joint gets 0 stars. first of all, i was expecting a live bull fight and the waiters to be wearing sombreros and dancing the cucaracha as they brought the nachos over to my table. no such luck.
after eating the burritos, i started farting uncontrollably and the owner started giggling. very insensitive and rude. i think the owners should have been more sympathetic to my irritable bowel.
5. If you have no common sense, are stupid, have no brains and do not want everyone who reads the reviews in GoKunming to know it then please for god sakes do not write a review. Sorry my rant is done. Feel much better now.
