The only store I know of that sells Beer Lao is Paul's Shop. If I recall correctly it's about 8 for a small bottle and 13 for a big bottle. Is there any other place in town to get it cheaper, especially by buying a full crate?

They sell it in my local supermarket.
Try Carrefour
Anyone knows if there are any shops/supermarkets in town that have restocked on Black Beer Lao?
In Laos
@Yankee00 - there's an imported goods shop just off linyu lu that used to stock it. (dark or light for Y6 a bottle) but they haven't had it for a while now and couldn't get more. i've been told by several shops and bar owners that the Yunnan government have slapped big import duties (or maybe taxes) on it so nobody can get any at a reasonable price at the moment. i hope they sort it out because i enjoy it so much i usually buy it by the case!
Where is this imported goods shop? I've lived on LinYu Lu for more than 3 years and have never seen one in the area.
@debaser, yeah, it's starting to take long and Chang and Singha don't do it for me. Hopefully it will be back after the SA Expo.
@AlPage48, this might be the shop debaser mentioned, it is in a small street after Carnaval mall: www.gokunming.com/[...]
A little off topic, but what exactly is the appeal of Beer Lao? I know Chinese beer isn't always so good, but Beer Lao didn't seem like much of an improvement to me.
Cause for the 5rmb (in a bar) it costs more than a Tsingdao, it's well worth it. Is it as good as a belgium tripel, well no. If you didn't like the blond Beer Lao you had, then try the dark, or vice versa.
What Alex said. Plus it would start to get heavy on the wallet if I have two imported Belgium tripels everyday for breakfast and lunch.
