Are you planning on staying in Kunming or going somewheres else? Will you go to Dali, Xishuangbanna, another less touristy (less crowded) town, another province, or even another country?
I'm not sure about where to go yet. Was planning on Xishuangbanna but thought it would be too packed full of tourists. Now I'm thinking We'll go to another less touristy nice town, but don't know where yet. Either that or go to Hanoi or somewhere in Laos.
My personal choice would be somewhere that doesn't have fireworks all night - every night. Even earplugs don't help!
This will be our first Chinese new year in China.
For my wife it is a pity that we are 1600 km from her home town, witch is Pingjiang.
But we hope to have a nice time in Kunming.
I wonder, are there any activity's in Kunming witch are interesting for foreigners?
We might have to do a 200km run to my wife's home-town.
If not my preference is to stay at home. Travel is a nightmare.
One more note.
Be extra vigilant of thieves in the run up to Spring Festival. Some people, who have not saved enough to get home, get a bit desperate and resort to crime.
