My vpn also isn't working. Google is crap and it seems to be universal as I can't get to benign sites. Internet outside of China seems to be gone unless you have the exact URL and don't use Chrome.

Hope many people can now realize that this censorship is NOT only here in China but worldwide. Press TV has recently been shut down to deter real journalists from telling the truth about what is happening in Syria and other parts of the world. Iraq had WMDs and now Syria has chemical weapons - yeah right.
It's slow as hell. It's crap!
Must be something going on.
In the south, its actually been faster than normal in the past day or two.
This likely means (if you guys are in the city) they are doing some re-jigging of what parts of the city get how much of the available pipe out of Kunming. Probably it will change again soon and be Kunming speed (pretty average) for everyone :-)
From the blanket messages and just recently a response to my request for help yesterday i think the ExpressVPN help area is very overwhelmed right now with China. They continue to offer several options in attempting to connect but can not offer a definite solution right now. They have asked me to be patient and say a tech person will get back to me soon.
It is to promote cultural harmony.
I am also getting mail from my VPN provider (Astrill) saying they are having some issues with China but I haven't experienced any problems yet.
My Witopia client has not been working for several weeks, however, an alternative client I found on the Witopia site that uses the connection method supported by apple mobile devices is working on my Windows 7 desktop. Once connected to Canada I can use Witopia to connect to any server with no problem.
It's really weird doing it this way and the connection sometimes resets - especially around 6:00 a.m., but it's working for me. I'm using Google Chrome and connecting to all Google sites with no problem.
you need to have a Phd in Information Technology to access the internet in china.
and a brain surgeon and a rocket scientist.
