With winter cumming soon, the coal furnaces will be turned on in the city I live, meaning 6 months of filthy pollution.
I've seen small portable air filters that cost anywhere between 200 and 20000RMB.
My budget extends to around 2k, so was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of such things, in particular as to whether they are effective, what to look for, what to avoid etc etc
Replacement filter cost is an issue I guess (reusable filters would be a big bonus), as is maybe power consumption and noise.
I was thinking of buying on Taobao.
Any advice much appreciated.
I bought a Panasonic air filter on Taobao for a pretty good price (600ish)

It claims to be good up to 60square meters (on maximum), but I only use mine in a 16 square meter bedroom. Despite not explicitly being advertised as such, it is indeed a "HEPA" filter. It shares the same filters with the more expensive models. I have pretty bad allergies, I found this to work very well for me. It's very sensitive to smell, so whenever you cut the cheese the red lights will flash like crazy, and go blue after the offending odour has been neutralised.
I'm not saying this is necessarily the best filter, but it's not a piece of crap either. I've been using mine for 4 months and I am still satisified with the price and performance.
