@geezer, well that would just be racist but we all know there's no escaping racism in china as subtle as it may sometimes be but clearly anti-japanese riots and demos are racist and anything but subtle.

Calling for the physical violence to Japanese citizens and their property today is just as wrong as the invasion of China and the massacres in Shanghai (civilian aerial bombing) and Nanjing. While Japan must be held accountable for their wartime aggressions and atrocities - blaming today's citizens in China is basically uncivilized uncouth inciteful mob-like talk and should be squelched by the responsible government leaders, as it reflects poorly on a nation with over 5,000 years of civilization and culture.
Russia and China have vetoed UN Resolutions agianst Syria 3 times already. The insane USA will continue to do what it wants in spite of opposition. You can be sure this will have a direct impact on Americans in China very, very soon. Wait and see!
I thought all of this was about Japan, China and not Syria?
No, you assumed incorrectly. This is Not about Japan. The real issue is about the reaction of people against another group of people. To destroy Japanese cars that were made in China and that belong to Chinese people is an act of stupidity.
As I stated above, you can expect negative reactions and consequences against Americans in China very soon. Just like there were demonstrations against the French (Carre Four) just prior to the Olympics of 2008.
"Be Careful Lads":: does that mean gals are exempt?
oops - double
government approved? really? I read that some protestors who burned flags have been arrested. I think people are allowed to protest within reason, non-violently. Having said that though, it might be good for all Japanese people to get on the next plane out of here if they can.
I guess you believe everything you read? I watched a video of many people stoning, kicking and destroying a car right in front of the police. Demonstrating is Not a crime but destroying property is a crime.
I believe what I see more then what I read. If you have a chinese friend you can ask them to download any of the many videos on Baidu and you can see for yourself that people are doing all this right in front of the police.
Government approved for sure. Just see what happens if they start to deviate from a very tightly defined target.
In China people don't have the right for public protests, you first must apply to the PSB for a gathering, if thats approved then its OK.
It was the same a few years ago when "the masses" boycotted Carrefour, every day for about a week there were crowds blocking people from entering the shop, then one day the government decided that there were to be no more protests and the police who had been told to do nothing for that week cleared the crowd very quickly.
If you see a protest in China it means that either the government approves it, or the government will stop it very very quickly and most likely violently.
