Yuanyang or Puzhehei ?

Hey there !

I already asked this among other things in another post, but I thought I'd isolate the subject and put it in it's own post.

It all lies in the tittle :
At this specific time of the year, and given their respective sceneries at this time of the year, which do you think would be better to visit, Puzhehei or Yuanyang ? And which one will have more tourists at this time of the year ?

I'm looking for advice from people who've already been to both places.

Thanks a lot for your help guys

Baoshan Shi Tou Cheng, Pu Zhe Hei, Yuan Yang, Shu He, Stone Forest, Massage and Techno Music all in 13 days - You will be very busy. William, French American, are you from Louisiana and worked as a chef by any chance? Did you recently move to Europe?

@HFCAMPO
Ha ha ha !

Thanks for that little touch of humour about all the things that I wanna do. Seems hard to do all these things in 13 days ?
Actually, I may not be able to do all in 13 days, but that's ok, as I MYSELF, will be staying another week or so in Yunnan, before moving elsewhere in China.
No, it's really more for my friend, it's his first time in Asia and, although I don't want to go here and here and there and do everything in a hurry, I do want to show him as many things as possible.
In the end, during his stay, I am going to have to make a choice between Yuanyang and Puzhehei - there is just no way we can visit both during his stay since we are also going to Dali, Lijiang and Co.

that's why I was wondering if anyone could help me decide between these two places.

As for where I'm from, strangely enough I am not the one you are describing, although I do come from Louisiana - NOLA to be precise.
I've stayed in Europe all my life - except for my few years in China (and would be delighted to come back and live there).

With the lotus in bloom July until August should be prime time for Puzhehei. But having been recently to Shiping where the nearby Yilong lake is also famous for its lotus flower, the lake there is almost totally dry and the lotus boats are all moored. Not sure what the water situation is in Puzhehei. Puzhehei gets busiest over the torch festival, August 11 this year.
Yuanyang is also quite nice in summer, but you are unlikely to get great views of the terraces as the weather tends to be extremely hazy and of course rice is growing in the terraces. All the most spectacular photos with the fog swirling with the rising sun reflecting in the terraces have been taken in winter. Few photographers this time of the year.
