Hi everyone,
Has anyone ever gone for a trek from Daju to Shitoucheng (Baoshan in Lijiang county) ?
I'm very interested in doing this trek, and basically, here is the info that I got from another site (www.chinabackpacker.info/trek/t13.html) :
"Day one : Daju Piaopiao Kezhan to Changsong Village (长松村), 23km, 8-9 hous of walk. Stay overnight at locals home at Changsong Village. Day 2: Changsong to Shitoucheng, around 20km, 6 hours of walk. A local guide is indispensible as there are many sidetrails. It costs Y100/per day if you want to rent a horse for carrying the backpack. The owner of the guesthouse - Piaopiao Kezhan can help you find both guide and horse."
So, has anyone done this ? are the time/duration estimations correct or not ?
Should this trek be regarded as a difficult one ? I personnaly think not, but please give me your opinion, if you know.
Y100 per day for a horse to carry backpack, yeah ? how about the local guide ? anyone knows how much he may cost ?
Any help regarding any of these questions is welcome.
Please note :
Please avoid telling me that I can also reach Baoshan directly by bus from Daju, I know that ! It's really all about the trek. Thanks for your help.
One more question too :
is there really a fee now that is applied also when taking bus from Daju to Lijiang like the otherway around ?
If yes, any way to avoid this ? How about for the bus from Baoshan-Shitoucheng to Lijiang ?
Thanks
I haven't done this, but it would be similar to TLG. Going in, you can't really avoid the fee (it's possible, but you have to enter by foot/bike at night on the eastern side) but going out, no one really cares to check if you've paid or not. Also TLG doesn't care if your just passing through and your destination is elsewhere; entering means paying.
I would assume the snow mountain is like that too, since the bus going in you pay, but leaving no fee.

@aum235, have you done the trek? how was it? was it easy to find accomodation on the way?
thanks for the link. sounds like if i take a bus everyone will have to pay 185 entrance fee, tho. right?
It is not really a bus, it is a 7 passenger minivan. Only locals do not have to pay. My wife is chinese and she had to pay the entrance fee because she does not speak Naxi. The ticket agent will speak to everyone in Naxi and if they dont reply they get to pay.
Theoretically, you ought to be able to do this hike from Daju to Baoshan (if you can manage to find the trail) without paying any fees.
But you'd have to get to Daju by the most roundabout way. If you reach Daju by the normal road from Lijiang, you're going to get hit with the Jade Dragon fee.
Alternatively you could take the ferry over the Yangtze River from Jiangbian/Sanba, but the most normal way of reaching this ferry would also require you pay the Tiger Leaping Gorge fee.
However, if you arrive in Jiangbian/Sanba via the backroad from Shangri-La (the one which passes the Baishuitai and Haba Mountain) then you don't have to pay any fees.
