So I had to revive an old thread, because GoK entirely deleted my recent thread "Looks fun" No warning, no mention, no trace left behind. No one would ever know that happened.

In the recently deleted thread, I posted twice about GoK missing two recent separate events in their calendar. These were the two events.

I did not use any foul language and these events are not political sensitive. I did indicate how I wished GoK calendar would of had these events, rather than me reading about them post fact on another Yunnan news site. These events 'looked fun'

They're copious use of "thread locked" is annoying already. They regulary delete comments in threads at whim. I'm not sure I can tolerate outright deletion of entire threads.

One thing that can happen, is that an otherwise contributory thread is hijacked while you are away. When you return the thread has gone

I agree with you about thread deletion, unless absolutely necessary it can be annoying and penalises those who would otherwise benefit. It is better to deleted offending posts if you can, but then often what happens is the tread is broken and no longer makes sense.

Tidying up threads is a lot of work. To be fair to the GoK guys, I assume that they give of their time freely, and it is sometimes a thankless task. Add to that some people then come in and pea on their efforts.

The "Looks Fun" thread was deleted because it was not true. The second of the 2 event links, the Anuna concert at Kunming Theater was listed in the calendar. Unfortunately, there will always be events with little or no promotion that are missed. Gokunming users are always welcome to submit upcoming events through our contact form.

Surely it would be better to have expounded on how it "wasn't true", and leave it up for all to see, rather than just disappear the entire thread?

Seems a bit clumsy and unnecessary to me.
