Hi,
I would like to learn Japanese or Korean while in Kunming. I've seen ads for language schools around town. Has anyone ever tried them?
My Chinese is good enough that I would be able to understand Chinese instructions. So I'm not worried about that, I am worried about the quality of education. (We've all met shabby local teachers of the English language.) Did your teacher speak decent Korean or Japanese? Are there schools that teach the real spoken language rather than how to pass the test?
If you've taken classes in another language (like Thai, Khmer or Burmese) I'd be happy to hear your experiences too.
There are two small Schools in the north that are 90% Korean students. One is Korean International School in Kunming(KISK), and the other is Kunming Grace International School(KGIS).
KGIS contact:
phone: 0871-588-6823
email: kgis2007@naver.com
KISK office(not sure if it's the main office): 431-6005
I go to both at least a couple times a week, so if you need more help contacting them just ask.
Advertise in classifieds on here. Find a private tutor. I have seen people advertising for Jap/Kor lang exchange on here before.
Using a school will just add complications that will add cost, time, frustration, and cockups.
I had worked based in Seoul 6 months in total when got graduated from school, so I know a little about Korean and Korean culture. I'd love to meet some korean friends. If anyone interested, contact me by pm then I will give you my number.
