As expected, some teething problems.

Wife flew to Shanghai on July 1. There was a 3 hour delay.

Would suggest not getting tickets with a short time connecting to overseas flights at international hubs.

Nice airport, but the kinks still need to be sorted out. If you can, I suggest carry on only to ease the experience of a new airport.

Has the highway been upgraded all the way to Kunming?

Flew in from Guangzhou airport about 8 weeks ago. I caught the 20rmb. bus from Kunming airport at 2am and got out near Green Lake. Everything ran smoothly, road seems fine.

I'm going to the new airport this wednesday. I've seen buses leave from Xiaoximen (where the phone market is).

How long does it take from there to the airport?

About 45 minutes if there are no traffic problems. Allow an hour or more at peak times.
