Both those sites require a working VPN. When I first moved here I could not get it working. Turns out I only THOUGHT the VPN was active. It required that I "run as administrator".
Check with your VPN vendor tech support to make sure you are actually getting connected.

You can also try free web proxies (google webproxy) - but caveat emptor - some are ad sites, others are trolls (trying to insert viruses and trojans into your OS) - the hidden price of free.
webproxies get blocked in china quickly so try to look for proxies with obviously non-porn and non-gambling type names.
Otherwise - opt for @AllPage48's solution of a paid (and more reliable) VPN solution. Search gokm for VPN recommendations - there was a blog on that a while ago.
If you have a VPN (strongvpg.com) you'll need to use their DNS. They can provide you with their DNS IPs.

try this:
That looks like a phisher, it doesn't even seem to try and process the login. I advise changing your password... where did you find that link mailman?
google search. it worked for me before. although the functionality was somewhat limited. i got a paid vpn now. it runs very well with tunnel blick - a free vpn client for mac os x.
When in China I use Astrill. It's great and works no problem but you have to pay.
The both websites that you mentioned can easily be accessible through VPN. I recommend that you take a paid VPN account if in case you used trial account. some time it happens in trial accounts because not every one but some of the VPN providers offers little lesser access to the websites or slower speed in VPN trial accounts. Or in other case you need to talk to your VPN provider. Because VPN is much better than proxy and much secure option.
