Hi, i'm thinking of moving to Chenggong. Can anyone comment on things there? is there a walmart/carrefour? decent restaurants? how is the housing prices? lastly are there any schools to study chinese besides the universities?

Hi, I have lived in Chenggong now for the past 1 year ( close to the Government buildings).
From my knowledge, the housing/apartment rental varies between 800RMB - 2500RMB.
The nearest Carrefour is situated next to The Empark Grand Hotel, which is about 30min drive away from the Governmental Buildings.
Don't know anything about schooling though.
Next to the Governmental buildings there are quite a number of chinese restaurants with various cooking styles and a 5 star hotel to be opened during this spring time.
We have looked there. Even though the consulates and government are supposed to moving there it has not happened yet.
It is a fairly average residential area.
We thought it a bit remote, with not much for me apart from teaching at one of the Unis
