Hey, guys. I'm a graduate who is experiencing my difficult time writing my MA thesis. I will be killed by my advisor if i can't finish my paper before Oct. 15. (Just a kidding) I want to get to know foreigners here because my thesis is about foreigners' life in China. But but but the hardest thing for me is I know few foreigners in Kunming. So please do me a favor if you can squeeze out like less than 10 minutes to help answer a couple of questions
as follows, which will be very very helpful to me.
—How long have you been in China?
—Which group do you think you belong to now (Probes: internatinoal people, oversea workers, international students, Kunming members, or what else)?
—Is the group you think you belong to now the same as the group you just came to China?
—What's the importace of your group to you?
—How's your life experience in Kunming or in China?
(You can also give me your answers to my email box:
duanjiang_dj@sina.com)
I will appreciate your help very very much.
You're going to fail your thesis. Even if you pass, failing is probably the best thing for you. Good luck.
if you were to donate say, umm...¥100 per survey to either the earthquake or the flood victims in China - maybe you'd get a better response...
Howdy - - first, I wouldn't pay much attention to onomatopoeiaaah's comments as she is always negative.
I will send you my observations in separate e-mail.
Cheers - - JJ
Laotou - - when are you up for coffee??
Didn't really get the reason for the negative responses ... did I miss something ?
Anyways, my answers are in separate email
Thank you very much for your support, JJ and Janice, spunz.
As for the negative response above, I should say it's hard to make an absolutely objective standard to judge what is a failure and what is a success in academic study. And as far as I have tried my best to carry my study out, I won't be regretful or regard it as a failure. Actually I'm doing my best and I believe I can get help.
Cheers ^_^
Just thought that an MA THESIS would demand a more serious approach than a poorly written appeal for help mere weeks from his stated deadline. It gives the impression that the student either hasn't taken the whole thing seriously or that the thesis itself isn't worth taking seriously. My advice was genuine - that anyone who treats such an important matter so casually might actually benefit from failing. I was sincere in wishing the poster luck.
JJ, you are not the moderator of these forums, yet your arrogance in your posts, suggesting who to listen to and who not to, is quite astounding. I think you still have a bee in your bonnet about our previous chats and as such, jump on everything i say here. Let it go man. It's tiresome and it's predictable, much like yourself i imagine. I feel for Janice, i really do.
You are SO RIGHT, onomatopoeiaaah.
An MA THESIS can never be finished in such an easy and casual way like putting some pity ask-for-help questions in a forum and then get it finished. I myself would call it a failure if it could be finished so easily, let alone my university and my advisor.
And I think it's not necessary for you to be so cynical before you know how the whole story goes. But for me, you really give me a SINCERE warn.
If you would like to give a hand to me to share some of your experience in China, I would appreciate very much. And I get to work now rather than be all talk and no deed.
Good luck to you too and take it easy.
Re: onomatopoeiaaah. Wow!! Who is that negative gal??
