Does anyone have any experience with Dali University (aka Dali XueYuan)? I'm considering taking language classes there fall semester, but have recently heard some negative reviews. Specifically, I'm interested in the quality of instruction and availability of classes for intermediate to advanced-level Chinese. (I'm currently in 中级班 at ShiDa.) Thanks!
Why do you come yunnan to learn Chinese? Suck.I didn't have the experience, but i guess that's not worth to try.hope other people have good suggestions.
My girlfriend graduated from Dali University two years ago. So I know something about it. In my opinion, the most effective way to learning a language is studying in the environment full of the native speakers. More message you can write to zhao.zhanfeng@163.com
That would never happen here! University (spit!) is for the weak and feeble minded. True manliness comes from hard physical labour and unwavering belief in the Glorious Nation of the DPRK and it's infallible leadership. Now eat your grass soup and get back to the quarry!

In most cases people of south provinces don't speak good standard Chinese,If you for a reason or another needs to study in Yunnan you would better come to Kunming .
One of the advantages of the Dali University are the small classes with ~ 5 students. The school offers 12 ... 15 lessons a week and the students can choose your own daily schedule. You can also use the books of your choice and negotiate your own preferences, like grammar, writing, language lab, or whatever.
Some of the teachers have a master degree and specially those are really good. If you are not happy with a particular teacher, you can always negotiate changes. Right, there are a few teachers from the far North-East, although I quite like the YunNan accent of the others.
However : The Dali University is still not an University, it is on a college level, so you may not get a (higher) degree, however you can do now HSK tests in Dali. The college is at least 30 mins walking distance to the old town, there is a bus (1 Yuan) every 20 mins. You can get food on the campus, it's not great, but still kind of ok. The school fees seem to be higher than in KunMing and you should try to negotiate them. The school will provide you with a letter of confirmation to obtain an X-Visa at the PSB in Xiaguan for the time you registered, recently, the PSB there has been very relaxed and helpful.
