I'm returning to KM after a time away. What busses connect the area of Yunnan University with Cheng Gong and the new South Bus Station? There used to be a bus station near Walmart, on Ren Min St. with busses to local towns including Cheng Gong. Is it still in business?
Never gone there by bus, personally, but MapBar is usually pretty accurate about bus routes:

According to the link above to get from Yunda/Green Lake area to the new South Station, take the 85 from Wenlin Jie to Juhua Cun 菊花村 and get on the 12 and ride it to Wula Cun 五腊村.
As I said, I haven't done it personally, so I can't guarantee it. Let us know what happens.
I recently took an bus (no number marking, but apparently a regular Kunming bus) from just NW of the intersection of Renmin Xilu and Xichang Lu, basically curbside (not with the regular buses) in front of the Guangyuan Hotel 广园饭店. That'll take you express to Xinluosiwan 新螺蛳湾公交枢纽站, most of the way there-- then you can switch to one of many other buses, depending on where you want to go in Chenggong (e.g. Bus 170 for Daxuecheng, where all the new university campuses are being built).
The bus stop RossP mentioned, 新螺蛳湾公交枢纽站, is right between the new Luosiwan center and the south bus station. That's probably the best place to search for bus routes.
