Where to buy MIDI controllers and synths?

I here again in KM for a sort stint and wondering where I can buy MIDI controllers and synths? At the moment, I mostly looking for Korg Nano-series (nanoPAD, NanoKEYS, NanoKontroller).

search1.taobao.com/[...]

Your best bet for midi controllers is Tao Bao (see link above) for which you will need to set up an account. Over the past few months I have spent a lot of money on midi equipment from various tao bao retailers and have never been disappointed. You get 7 days to check the product before the cash is cleared to the retailer. Find a retailer with high rating from customers and you should be fine. If you are only in Kunming for a short stint I would question the value of buying a synth here. Better to get a small midi keyboard and use some of the many soft synths available. I personally would recommend something from the M-Audio range of midi keyboards.

Hope this helps

Thank you Jeremy,

At the moment, I am looking for only controllers, the Korg Nanopad, nanokontrol and nanokey. I see they have them for a good price.

But I have no idea how to find an address to a store. Can you help me on that?

South Silk Sounds has a nice ring to it. What do you do?

Oh, sorry... I understand now... Taobao is just a portal. I should have done this when I came, 2 1/2 weeks ago... Im leaving on Saturday back to Sweden and I was hoping to bring with me home.
Is there any physical store here in KM that sells the Korg Nano-series?

There is no physical store here in KM and you'd be hard pushed to find one except in Shanghai or Hong Kong.

South Silk Sounds is a networking website for local artists & musicians to showcase their talent, share music, contribute tutorials, videos and ideas. It will be online in the coming weeks:)

Pity. But thanks for stopping me from walking up and down the streets in a futile search.

South Silk Sounds seems to be what I am interested in.
My plan is to return to Sweden, arrange my affairs and return here to try to build up a career as composer and musician. How do I join?

@ pernordin

I stand corrected about the Korg pad. I went hunting for Midi controllers myself a not long ago and couldn't find anything.

Well Spotted KickKick:) Did you see any other MIDI equipment there?

i'm also looking to buy musical instruments in kunming. my chinese is poor though, and using a site like taobao a bit daunting.
i heard there are many instrument shops near to uprock (not sure of the street name).

does anyone know of a good source for second hand instruments?

what kind of music are people looking to make whilst in kunming? is anyone looking to form a band?
