By CAO YIN | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2021-01-22 22:02
Police shot and killed a man who allegedly did a kidnapping in Wuhua district in Kunming, capital of Yunnan province, at around 5 pm on Friday. The hostages were rescued, local police said.
The man, surnamed Wang, 56, axed seven people outside the gate of a middle school before the kidnapping. One of the people attacked died of their injuries.
An investigation of the case is still underway, according to a statement posted by the district's public security department via its Sina Weibo account.
Several video clips published by Chinese news outlets showed the kidnapping happened at the gate of the Experimental Middle School Attached to Yunnan Normal University, where many bags were scattered on the ground.
Official China Daily Tweeted this with a image captioned "Saving lives or ending lives?" On the left, an image of a Kunming police officer kneeling down in exchange for hostages. On the right image, the officer who knelt on George Floyd:
@Cindy thank you.Our Chinese police force is a force of true heroes. In many other countries they act like oppressors.

In some countries the education for police officers is not much more than education of chengguan in China.
It is also that elsewhere it is the responsibility of said police to do what is outsourced to chengguan in China, and for comparative figures one could get more realistic picture by seeking sources with that keyword.
