Places to go with a VERY limited budget

Farah (5 posts) • 0

Hey guys!

So I am broke. But I really wanted to see some sights within or around Kunming. Any suggestions?

If you are female you can get guys to treat you to dinner. You can also go to the museum, it's free too.

Speaking of super free, nice plug there sean. Oh why not, Turtle Club is a regular sponsor here. Visible to those who don't use adblock.

FYI. Like public restrooms, Green Lake wasn't always free but charged entrance fee to the tune of 10 bucks. Not sure about the military museum across the street.

Farah, if you are also hungry for food not just sights, free bread tasting trays at bakeries can fill you up after three of four rotations. Afterwards, head to the supermarkets to sample milk at the dairy section. Grab some Maoduoli candies on the way out. Good luck getting rid of the earworm; "maoooo-duo-li ya, maoduoli maoduoli...."

2nd FYI. Plenty of women will pay for laowai men. Just pretend you left wallet at home and don't use alipay/wepay.

Acute cheapness is tolerable when broke and on "VERY limited budget."

The Yunnan Militairy Academy (The yellow building next to Green Lake), The Kunming Museum and the Yunnan Provincial Museum are all free of charge.
For the last one you have however to bring your passport

Also the Science Museum (just south of the Military Academy) is free and well worth a visit. Railway Museum and Zoological Museum are only about 10-20RMB entrance fee - also worth visiting.See listings for addresses etc.

For 2 rmb you can ride any bus to the end of the line. Great for people watching as you watch the world go by. A good way to explore the city too. If you buy a travel card, from any metro station, that will make life easier. You can use the travel card on metro trains and buses.

Was that what you've been doing for the past month and a half? Sitting in back of buses from start to terminal stations watching the world go by?

Welcome back. Sorely missed.

You should take on GK's offer to be one of the mods. Negotiate for company stock options.

"Travel card" you mentioned requires 20 deposit. Rules have changed. They can now refund your 20 deposit at any metro station without deposit slip, as long as the card is not torn, has a hole, or edges damaged.
