Good point - but it was the "no smoking". Aside from that - it's international 5 star hotels for no smoking dining.

Also - there's the annual mania along yuan tong street and the Kunming Zoo (same street) to view the annual spring bloom of vibrant, colorful blossoms. You can also stroll around Yunnan University's Green Lake campus (don't tread on the grass - guards will swing by periodically to yell at grass walkers), then swing by the cafes along wenlin jie for a bite or stroll down to green lake, for a stroll. Kids can dine al fresco (patio?) at the Park Bar & Grill, inside the Green Lake Park, take the boat ride (pedal

power or electric - young kids - go electric), bumper cars inside - but maybe a little violent for the young ones, some kiddie rides, watch the minority groups line dance outside the park - pick up those cheap battery powered yippee dogs that trot and yip, pinwheels, balloons, and tooth rotting candies (but it's only once, and the kids may need the extra energy boost since they may be skipping nap time).

There is a circus advertising on Kunming TV Channel 6 (K6) this morning, channel 26 or 46 on the cable boxes, depending on service provider.
There was a circus and waterworld down in Dounan (I think) during the end of last year, I am not sure if it is still there.

There are also some new facilities for small children in Haigeng Park. These being of the large inflateable slide kind, and fairground rides for all ages (looks like some new rides). The park is free to enter. The park is located at the end of Dianchi Road. Several buses go directly to the end of Dianchi road, including the 44 and the 73. After you get off the bus, go into the park, turn right, and the amusements are at the other end of the park, towards the cable cars.
