My opinion is that facial recognition can work to try identiy people among masses at public places, but I wouldn't want to trust access to my house or even to my cell phone with my face alone.
Iris scan for some extra security, but even then I would rather keep my phone or door access code in my brain instead of have some burglar knock me out and then proceed to scan my eyes. Too easy!

jus coz yew iz paranoyd dont meen dey aint watchin ya
This will make easy to target foreigners. Just think of it. 1.5 billion Chinese vs. a few million foreigners, no?
In the context of big brothering, personally I am more worried about recorded evidence conveniently disappearing when it suits the powers-to-be, than moi being beng under constant surveillance.
maybe not so easy to track forigner. problems in usa is that alforithms written by white people coders, on white subjects. lots of false readings for black people. assume china will be chinese coders on chinese faces, alforithms not set up well for non chinese perhaps
Sure a few of you on here been playing the dating scene recently ;o) If facial recognition is not a problem in China then I'm sure finding a girl might be more likely to cause scary times for you lol

@Liumingke: Do you really think of foreigners in China being in a situation of us vs. them?
Either you're joking or paranoid.
