My passport being photographed .

Peter99 (1246 posts) • -2

An official saying "fuck" or shouting "laowai" is a nice guy.

Napoleon may have some stories from Africa where you hand over your wallet first, as a gift, before you show the passport.

But no need to go that far, just 6 hours south, to Vietnam, and you have cops that occasionally rob people.

When Thailand got its military regime a few years ago, and they - for security reasons - demanded all people, including foreigners, to carry id/passport at all times. And show on demand.

Now just imagine the whining from the trash foreigners there, how "their rights" were being tampered.

@Napoleon
You defintely have mental issues. Please stay on your meds. It's just a topic thread. Don't get bent out of shape.

@Geezer
My protest was as harsh at this; I wanted him to tell me where the office or the supervisor is and I explained why, because I wanted the picture to be taken professionally.

And he became angry, in my years in China I learned that this is a sign of something not proper going on.

I was polite and didn't refuse to have my passport picture taken. But I didn't want it to be taken in the entrance while people pushing us out of the way.

He said I must do it here or leave, even one guy from the SWAT team came along to observe. Luckily for me.

He didn't say anything but even he looked sympathetic towards my request.

And in my almost 15 years in China I have shared my personal info plenty, and it was fine because I was always treated respectfully or it was done professionally.

One of the above, work for me.

This guy wasn't.

He grabbed my elbow from the start puling me to a luggage scanning machine, to take the photo. Putting the passport on some dirt-stained desk.

I have nothing to hide, thanks for asking and for judging me without knowing me.

Since what happened is beyond your expectation, I must have done something wrong, right?

I didn't, I speak and read Chinese and as I said before I take train trips every week.

And what happened was very odd.

@Napoleon
I will not nurture your severe issues here. I am sad to hear that you are the person who has suffered the most, seen everything and knows everything, so that you can go along and judge and rant

and accuse and be very immature.

And you should, you are so tough and strong, so you are entitled to.

I am happy for you that you met a place, and a few people that share your worldview with you.

The world has become more peaceful and better. I never said it's perfect but it is getting better.
No time to stop making it that way, but it's good to know.

About the question who I am, I am the guy who started the thread, and I have gotten maybe 5 or 6 useful answers or thoughts but since your arrival and peter's it has become another mutation of rants and hatred.

And since you did't respect the original thread in the first place, I asked the administrators to close it down.

I have never seen you post anything useful or open a thread with anything useful, I can be certain when you post, the thread is dead.

I apologize this isn't personal but there are many websites recommending dealing with people like you.

I am sure you are a nice fella in real life but it is difficult to read your posts.

You wanted it done professionally? What, are you a model or something? The fact that you were offend that he put your passport on a dirty desk explains a lot too. I wouldn't bother traveling anywhere if I were you.

@Fixitwithahammer

Sorry, you're right.

Having your passport photographed can be a horrifying experience and it's no wonder you've been left with post traumatic stress. Thank you for being brave and posting it on here, to let others know of the dangers that lurk our train stations.

Once you've finished your councelling maybe we could meet up and turn this experience into a book, maybe even hit hollywood with a film.

In the meantime I've taken up the time to set up a charity in your name, to help you and people like you who have been effected. Anyone who wishes to make donations can do so at:

helpmeiamacunt . com

I've had a word with Bob Geldoff and he's willing to put on a concert in your name. He was dead set on the proceeds going to starving children but once I told him of your plight he was moved, as we all were.

I'm not sure how you can even post, you must still be shaken up.

To you fixitwithahammer; a true modern day hero.
