In China and increasingly all round the world the bosses hold all the cards. Compulsory overtime, often unpaid, paying below the minimum wage, arbitrary fines and so on are all commonplace. The only thing workers can do is vote with their feet. Withholding a part of their salary is meant to close off this last escape route. It is absolutely disgraceful. Anyone offered such a job should turn it down and alert others about the firm.
