The Last Hurrah

Agree with redjon777. "The Last Hurrah" is forum restraint?

Don't shortchange a catchy title like that.

Exercising a little restraint is bad? In the Facebook era it probably is. The age of 'me'.

A follow up.

Notice now no one really discussed the issues I raised nor offered any insightful perspective or substantive counter-point, it's just the same old silly remarks and personal attacks. And when I PMed the posters regarding some of the attacks and accusations they've made, unsurprisingly, no one, not a single one, responded.

Some how, having a honest discussion one on one in private isn't as satisfying at showboating in public yelling: Look at me, I'm so smart and witty; it doesn't feed the ego. Ergo, I still stand by my initial assessment, especially points 7, 8, & 9.

Tony, I think a lot of your analysis is spot on. However, not everyone has joined one or the other of your two camps.

2 camps - Those that need to be anonymous so they can attack and make sarcastic remarks at others (pessimists) and those willing to be civil and meet face to face and be part of the Kunming expat community and share information with each other.
