Today I spotted a giant fumigation truck driving around Kunming.
It is "clinical" white, looks like a concrete truck, but instead has a 5 meter long canon (1meter diameter) on the back pumping out a giant mist of something. It's odorless, but it ain't water cause it's just aimed upward and the stuff settles down on the streets very quick.
The mosquito spray has a strong hydrocarbon smell, a bit like town gas. Possibly due to the oil used to suspend the chemical.
Was the truck driving or standing still? Was there a crowd around it?
5m cannon, maybe. 1m diameter, are I am going to have to question. Because that would hold/have to push over a ton of water.
Haven't seen this truck, but makes sense its mosquito control, given the recent rains and standing puddles of water.
I saw one evening in the city a regular cistern truck with one guy on top of it with hose spraying the trees with smelly chemical shit. Walking by people still were running away coz they new it was some pest.chem.stuff . It was kinda ridiculous that worker ( wearing a special protection mask ) didn't give shi* about people on the street. Some stuff of it was leaking out from cistern on the road leaving greasy spots. Some diandongche was trying overtake the truck and slipped on that, whatever it was. Basically all sidewalk was wet and slippy ( like some soapy stuff ) people were trying to get out of the side walk on road, but I could see them struggle to walk out of it.
Yeah, I took a bit of pesticide spray on a recent bike ride. I thought they were watering the trees, because who would spray pesticide all over the place on a windy day?
Yes, I saw this white truck when I was in Gansu and saw it here in Kunming for the first time just a few weeks ago in Xi Shan District.
It is nothing like a watering truck that waters trees or bushes and it is not a pesticide truck either. Both the watering truck and pesticide truck have a moveable nozzle with a man on top of the truck that can control the flow.
The white truck has a huge 1 meter diameter nozzle that shoots staright up into the air. The mist is very fine and settles quickly. I tried to take a picture when I saw it but it passed by too quickly before I could get my camera out.
A 1m diameter nozzle, do you mean like a bit like a shower head as a diffuser?
