I saw the Red Earth before. It is, ah, red dirt. I never saw any thing that looked like the snazzy photos you see online. Things have certainly changed since my wife and I i traveled around 10 to 12 years ago in China. When we walked across the hanging tree bridge in Xishaungbaba about 11 years ago the price was like 25 rmb. She told me the last time she looked it was near 300 rmb now. And we were almost the only one on the tree then! Now there are huge long lines and you can never stop to check things out because the line must keep moving. I figure most foreigners living here in KM have figured out that it is cheaper to go to another neighboring country like Laos or Cambodia. I just back from India and it was grueling as I traveled with a group of Chinese people we know (i.e. "lets go to India and SHOP!) but the cost was must cheaper than traveling around China these days.
And as for the OP's itinerary, I can't beleive you made up such a list and forgot to include (maybe rectified by now) the 8th wonder of the world, the Stone Forest (haw haw haw) and the sea gulls at Green Lake. I think the Sea Gulls are quickly becoming the number tourist attraction in Yunnan.
