Divorce in China: how to?

JeanDP (77 posts) • 0

My foreign (European) friend married a Chinese girl, and after the wedding, she quickly turned into a psychotic, violently-abusive, controlling, soul-sucking monster. He wants to divorce her, but he does not want to have to go with her to her hometown, because he knows that she and her entire family will heap abuse (some of it physical too) on him the whole time. Does he have any other recourse, so divorce her without having to deal with her or her family's physical presence?

Wow! He must've been blinded by her beauty to not realize her true personality. Anyway, if it's not a mutual decision and she wants to 'milk' him as much as she can, I suggest he hires a lawyer. There's a lawyer ad post on Gokunming. His name is Edmond Yang. Maybe he can give him some advice to steer him in the right direction. I've heard that divorce here is much less complication. How long have they been married?

They have been married a year. He is not afraid of her milking him for money, but literally of her and her family's physical abuse, false accusations, etc. She is basically crazy.

He probably got no money, so why would he be afraid of someone milking him.

In 99.9% of marriage troubles around these corners are down to material things, not psychological issues. That puts some focus on the guy too.

If the guy flips out a red envelope with, say, 10.000 USD in it, as a good gesture, and shows a photo of daddys big house that one day will be his, the "psychotic monster" will calm down, this is quite a simple remedy.

I do not know all the details, but the guy is not poor by any means, and is generous. She is pretty troubled, in my own opinion.

Jean, I take exception to your description of Chinese girls as "psychotic, violently-abusive, controlling, soul-sucking monster". As we all know it is the foreign devil that is the "psychotic, violently-abusive, controlling, soul-sucking monster", preying on the helpless yet superior Chinese stock. Chinese people are virtuous peaceful, and harmonious, and will never act in the manner you've described.

And besides, if he is a foreigner in China and he doesn't like it here, he should just leave, don't stay. Buy the next plane ticket outta here. Leave, just leave, go marry another local girl in another country and let the lawyers handle it. Better yet, buy a scooter or e-bike with an extra large helmet and head towards Thailand or Vietnam, much more foreigner friendly over there.

@Tonyaod
Ha.Ha. Funny!
It's sad to say but the younger generation are the 'entitled' generation. The 'traditional' Chinese women are becoming a thing of the past. It's now the me, me, me and selfie, selfie, selfie. Do you own a house? A car? A high paying job? Then I'll marry you.

@Tonyoad, Jean is talking about an individual and her family, not about "Chinese girls".
@Liumingke: that's what you get in rapidly-developing bourgeois societies - recognize it but don't imagine it automatically appies to everyone.

Youth used to be idealistic, but the recent young Asian generation (as a generalization) has abondoned anything idealistic. Its probably the most braindead and materialistic youth the world has ever produced, but then again the good part is there will be no khmer rouge among those morons.
