There are plenty of bars open halfway through the night.

Sorry to disappoint you but only one person is allowed in a disco at any one time here in Kunming. This means the chances of meeting others at these venues are very slim.

On one side of Yunnan Uni is Wenlin Jie (street) on another side is Wenhua Xiang, both streets have bars and expat bars, most close in the late evening. On another side of the uni is an exat pub.
There are more late night bars in an area called Kundu. There a bar called 'Mask' that is popular. There is also Moondog Bar, a short walk from there. All in the listings section.

Not to forget DT, off Dianmian Dadao...my favourite bar!

Irish Pubs now three of them and other such establishments advertise in GO KM. The Hong Shan Dong Lu area establishments mostly restaurants can be good places to meet people.
