I will arriving in Kunming in a few weeks and would like to know where the best workout/lifting facilities are. I am an avid weightlifter and would like to go to the best gym Kunming has to offer. Please advise on your experience.

There is some very fancy gym inside Golden Eagle shopping center, but no clue if it's the bestfor weightlifting. But it is new and very expensive. Think it's on 4th floor end.

How expensive is it?

Best one I've seen in town is on the top floor of the Nanya Mall. Nice large, carpeted cardio area with TVs on every machine, fancy locker rooms with towel service, special women-only area for those that need it.

Surprisingly, they also have a great weights setup, and have some of Yunnan's top weightlifters on staff as personal trainers.

Keep in mind though that this place is pricey. I think it's in the neighborhood of 8000 a year.

You can easily find a decent place for much cheaper. I'd advise to shop around when you get here for that perfect balance of location, price and gear.
