Using dehumidifiers is facist, it means you hate China because *We all know* there is nothing wrong with Kunming air, it must be the China hating foreigners fault.

You can also check www.jd.com if they have them. They deliver and you can pay cash on delivery. Just fill in your address in Chinese when ordering.
www.suning.com might also be an option, but I think you'd have to swipe your card on delivery (no cash). I try to avoid delivery options with card swiping as the devices sometimes don't work properly.
The room is probably humid because there is only one window, or there are more than one, but next to each other, therefore no proper air circulation. In that case, you're likely getting sick because you're breathing the same air all day long.
Befriend the student living opposite of your room and a few times a day, have both your doors and windows open at the same time to renew the air.
yeh, if room is damp maybe the roof or windows and balcony is leaking. does your window jut out from the building? these can leak on upper floors and it has rained a lot. if you are on upper floor, see if you can move down.
It might be more economical to get an air conditioner with built in dehumidifier function.
I have a stand alone dehumidifier that I bought on taobao. It was about the same price as an air conditioner. I ended up getting a modified american unit designed to run on 230V. I found the capacity of the Japanese units to be a bit on the small side (and really expensive).
good call. my brother had a dehumidifier it needed emptying daily in the begining every few hours. air con has a hose hanging out the window and not need to empty a tray it just drips outside
Many good ideas here - I recommend you try to increase ventilation for now - the rains will end by October - no need to invest in any gadgets after the rains stop - this has been an especially wet rainy season -
Good dehumidifiers also have the option for a hose attachment so you don't need to constantly empty the reservoir. The main reason I have a dehumidifier is for drying clothes during the rainy season. I am allergic to mildew, and clothes can get really stinky and nasty if they don't dry quickly. Unlike a wall mounted AC unit, I can roll the dehumidifier into the laundry room and close to door to speed up drying times. It works really well.
I would not recommend a dehumidifier for the bedroom as they are quite noisy.
