Recently,one of freinds told me Dongchuang is a good place to go,and I will see three colors of red soil land,the golden colore of rape flower and buckwheat, the green color of winter wheat sprouts and the red color of red soil land .I consulted some travel agency,but the car rental is expensive,and I've already booked all stuff up at www.springyunnan.com/index.html.Is anyone interesting in Red Soil Land,so we could go together,and share part of car rental.Thanks
Maybe you should be a bit more detailed. Is this the exact season right now for the Dongchuan scenery? Are the yellow flowers blooming now on top of the red soil?
If so, let me help you a bit by saying here that this is a great chance for people into photographing. Theres the blood red Yunnan soil, the green fields and the blooming yellow flowers. A classic Yunnan scenery, kind.
Also let people know when you are leaving and when coming back, and how much the price should be approximately. When you make the information compact and informative, then you will have better chance to hit up with some people interested.
I'd be sort of interested in riding my bike up there again. Back roads to Xundian then up to Dongchuan's Hongtudizhen, via Tangdan and Tuobuka to Gele, and then back on the main road to Dongchuan city. Home on a bus.
Yes Dongchuan is a must of Yunnan tour, relatively undeveloeped but fantastic natural beauty that would amaze any one, especially during the colorful autumn. For the transportation, personally i think to hire a driver is not safe and comfortable, more importantly, they generally know less about it. Last autumn we headed to Dongchuan Red Land for photography in a tour of the website you mentioned. As a result, thanks to their professional guide we soon found the right place for view-sight and get much wonderful photos. This Autumn(predicted in October) i decided to another photography tour to Yuanyang Terrace. Are you interested in it?
@Jessie_Pu:
Are you sure October is a good time for Yuanyang? I figure they might still be harvesting then, and a lot of the terraces will be empty.
I went in January and it was absolutely stunning. All the terraces were full of water, no crops, and the Honghe Valley below was filled with clouds every morning.
January, February best time for Yuangyang.
Dongchuan can definitely not be called 'natural' beauty. It's the result of decennia of deforestation in order to turn mountains into farmland. I'm sure the land is pretty degraded and causes all kinds of problems further down, like landslides.
Still, it's beautiful in its barenness.

All China is disgusting and ugly. You might as well not travel and save your money (which is fake and not real like US dollars anyway).
Thanks for all your suggestions, I have got a couple who came from Texas to share car rentel with me,the western tour line of Yunan(Dali- Lijiang-Shangri-la - Lugu lake ) I could get there any time I would like to,but I guess I picked up a good month to visit Dongchuan Red Soil land and Yuanyang,this travel agency will drive us to there with a 7 seats business car,so,here still one seat left,if anyone is interesting in this tour,could email me back,and I will tell you details,the itinerary is atspringyunnan.com/html/article/260.html.The first reason I picked up this itinerary is for its reasonnable price,and in my hometown,there was no such spectacular nature views,so I guess it worth a shot .
