GMO Poison

Magnifico (1981 posts) • 0

great, glad you found the info useful.

another point perhaps worth mentioning from the same link... this shows that monsanto is essentially an extension of the US govt and probably explains why a lot more countries don't ban monsanto.

US to Start 'Trade Wars' with Nations Opposed to Monsanto, GMO Crops

laotou (1714 posts) • 0

I thought GMO had been around for eons - but it used to be called plant husbandry (or something like that) where plants were spliced and and incubated in carefully controlled environments to generate higher yield more adversity resistant crops. I thought this method of GMO was generally more "natural" or organic than mucking around with plants at the genetic level (gene splicing), with unknown, unpredictable long-term effects.

yep they have been selective breeding for centuries. to breed in good and breed out bad. gmo is when they start manipulating at cellular level they physically modify the genes which is different to husbandry, which is a bit hit and miss but gets there over generations, nothing is altered as such. fears of gmo frankenstein organisims are stoked in some quarters. that is why we had all those movies about man made viruses destroying civilisation maybe 20 years ago.

Their wars and tortures,
their crimes against nature,
extinctions of species
and brand new diseases.

Their spying and lying
in the name of the father,
sterilizing seeds and
trademarking water.'

In the New World we're creating,
We will ridicule the cult of doom and gloom.
We will embrace the cause of zoom and boom.
We will laugh at the stupidity of evil and hate;
we'll summon the brilliance to praise and create.
No matter how upside-down it all may appear,
we will have no fear
because we know this big secret:

- This is a Perfect Moment

Okay, just to be clear, the article that Magnifico posted doesn't actually say anything substantial about GMOs themselves. It talks about Roundup, a weedkiller that can be sprayed on any crop and just happens to be produced by Monsanto. That's like saying popcorn should be banned because someone could put poison on it. The article also doesn't source any of its claims.

GMO seeds and GMO crops can not be killed by roundup. Monsanto makes the roundup and also makes all the seeds.

Roundup can be sprayed on any crop and it will kill it unless it is a GMO (monsanto) crop.

There are plenty of sources that prove that roundup causes cancer as well as a plethora of other health problems. As long as you are reading sources that are NOT produced by Monsanto.

The FDA allows Monsanto to do their studies. FDA also allows pharma companies to also do their own studies. (fox guarding the henhouse - no conflict of interest here).

Any independednt studies done on GMO, pharma or vaccines are immediately attacked by the media, as was the link between autism and vaccines where the doctor was accused of fraud yet the CDC was not.
