This sounds nasty, but I don't quite get it. Is it that the school who sponsored your visa now simply doesn't want to consider continuing to sponsor you because you've decided not to study there? Seems to me there might be some logic in this...have I got this right? But how is it that they are presently holding your passport?

10 day leave request is for failing health check if you have hiv, or have violated your work contract. if you get a 10 day request you cant get an expert permit in same city for 5 years if its work related. from what i understand you still can get student, and travel visa.

If you are getting a ban from entering China they will let you know. A ban and a request to leave the country are not the same thing.

If you get the (*)visa it tarnish your current passport, and your best option to get a new visa is to get a new passport.
There is no way you can get a new visa in HK with that visa in your passport.
I got that (*)visa, was rejected and had to get a new passport in order to get a new visa. No mercy.

also breaking contract there is a national list of passport numbers and names. public and govt schools check that list before applying for expert permit.

I am a bit confused about the need to pay early. Also, you said you paid about half in advance. Things must have really changed as I was never told to prepay months in advance.

Schools are for profit so it is odd they are doing this to customers. Next step is the school disappears. This is why we would like to know which school is doing this.
