Greed is rampant - because we are greedy - we want more - we've become a consumer society...a sign of civilization (colonial comments aside). Bosses need to be greedy, because they have to pay their staff increased salaries every year. Employees are greedy because they want more, better, etc ad infinitum.

Welcome to today's society...

Bosses need to be greedy so they can make more money more through profitable investments - ownership - rather than through working more, as there are only so many hours in a day. Actually I wish they'd chill out and relax and have a beer.

Self interest is a better term than greedy. laotou is right, most of us want more (Not me, I a Buddhist) and that is to me pretty normal and good too.

Greed is a sickness. Most people of color were not infected with this sickness until the white man came to colonize them. Some places today are still free from this illness, predominantly in the south were most white people call them Lazy. Most of the people who were immune to this illness have been slowly killed off because they do not buy into this system - in other words - they can not be enslaved. These people live in harmony with nature and share with nature, they don't look at nature as a resource that can be collected and hoarded and sold at a profit.

Indigenous people see a river as something with life which provides fish for daily food. Govts, composed of mostly old white men, see a river differently, they dam the river for hydroelecticity, get all the fish and sell it, and discard their waste in the water.

I can't wait for HFCAMPO's Children's book by the title "What A Wonderful World" to come out.
