I'm doing a study and we're going to give out tablet computers as a thank you gift. However, all of the computers in our price range are running Android 4.4.2. Does anyone know whether a tablet purchased in the US that runs Android will function without problems in China, since it is a Google-based system? Can the Google Play store be accessed? If not, how do you download new apps?
I really don't want to purchase 100 tablets only to find out the subjects can't even use them. Any advice is welcome :)
Thanks!
~Laura
these stupid phones and tablets.
people should stick them up their butts.
@lpompano
No google market because it's blocked badly, except when using VPN connection. But anyway, i dont know a lot chinese people using GooglePlay market. They use open (half-legal) markets, were they can get all the apps they need for free. ;) So i would say go for it.
@Magnifico:
I vote your post as the most helpful answer of the year!
Apart from no Google play, most Android users here are happy. Most tabs here are Android.
Most apps that locals will use will either be downloaded using '1MobileMarket', copied across from another phone using Bluetooth, or downloaded from other local sites (many pirated as previously mentioned).
Laura, I'm happy to answer a few questions in return for a 'thank you gift' ;-)
