Christmas and New Year trips

Qing Yun Bridge is about 200 meters from the Nuo Deng Bus Station. Hui Min Bridge is also very nice. It is in Nan Xin Village near Bao Feng which is about 10 km from Nuo Deng Bus Station. If you are careful you can see the Hui Min Bridge 15 km before you reach Nuo Deng.

Bao Feng is another Old Town like Nuo Deng. It is the birthplace of Mr Dong Ze who was one of the founders of Yunnan University. Nuo Deng Old Town is about 5 km from the Bus Station. Nuo Deng has several names - Yun Long, Nuo Deng, and Xi Men. There is a pagoda at the top of the mountain right next to the bus station. As you go near the entrance at the foot of the mountain you will see a nice display of all the bridges in the area. Bring paper and pencil and write them all down so you can plan your bridges expedition.

Wow, that's amazing information!

I'll be going south, from Lanping to Nuodeng as I'd rather go downhill (lazy me), but I'll make sure to check and compare with what I'll have seen on the way.

Thanks a lot!

The bike trip sounds good. What is accommodation like? Easy to find?
Yes, beaches for CNY, avoid Sanya. The price gouging knows no limits. I have been told that the best time to go to Sanya is a month after CNY. Not too hot yet, and cheapest time of year.
Sorry, slightly off topic.

If the weather is good enough for this trip, I'll be taking the overnight bus to Lanping. I'm still looking at whether there is something to do around Lanping for that first day or not. I've found some vague information about a mountain resort there, but I'm still hazy on the details. If not, I'll head south straight away.

I expect accommodation in Lanping to be easy to find near the bus station. So far, every village I've been to that has a bus stop also has an inn of sort. Worse case scenario, I'll push all the way to Nuodeng (80km, with sightseeing is perfectly doable, especially travelling light and downhill).

I'll pack some snacks, but food shouldn't be a problem either as the area is far from deserted. I speak some Chinese, so I've never had trouble securing a meal and boiled water... Of course, it's usually not at a restaurant. More like a bowl of rice and some meat (goat) and veggies.

I'll let you know what it's like afterward!
