Red wine Barbecue does not sound Persian. Can I suggest that the name sounds Persian. It might be that the other owners are not interested in Persion.
It might be easier for you to drop the Persian angle and let the Chinese partners do all the work and make all the decisions. Your life would become much easier.
That's exactly what I'm gonna do as the last resort
.... and eventually start your own authentic Persian restaurant without chinese partners? maybe not necessarily in kunming?
I also wanted to suggest exactly what Magnifico said. Even if it's a smaller place, I'd definitely be going there regularly as long as it's authentic, and a some people I know would too. And I'm pretty sure quite a few member of the forum would be going as well.
I have thought about that option and just wish to be financially able to do so since all of my money was invested in that restaurant and not really sure when would I be ready for another start.
take the time you need.
maybe you need to find another partner who can invest part of the money, but who has the same ideas about how to run the restaurant as you.
I had my hopes up about the Persian Red Wine BBQ. Never been there but I am hoping for authentic Iranian/middle eastern cuisine: dolmas, borak, gormeh sabzi, fesenjoon, borani, lavash, kibbeh, etc. I was trying to stick it out and go local but I honestly don't like Chinese food and need to take a break from it. Does anyone know a good place with pretty decent Mexican food as well?

This is NOT TexMex food or wasn't when I tried it. Went a few times food was good but it was a little pricey.
Cacao has gone downhill according to quite a few people who have been recently. In the beginning I didn't mind the prices because the quality was there but now...
I still have some hope that the Persian place will come good because Mehdi is a great bloke. Alternatively, I hope he manages to open a more authentic place.
It's getting more and more difficult to find other AUTHENTIC types of food in the north :( There are hotpot restaurants with hotpots from all over asia but few alternatives (unless you count fast food).
