Thank you @geezer. I am a foreigner and my wife and I own two rental apartments in Dali and one apartment in Beijing. We rent to one foreigner in Dali ... Great tennant but we do get PSB and tax people occasionally (maybe once every 3 to 4 monthes) calling. The other is rented to a chinese couple from Beijing..... Never hear anything from anyone. Beijing is rented to Koreans (WangJing ... Korean neighbourhood) .... We never hear anything from anyone.

Looking at the OP. Either the woman is subletting without landlord's consent, and the rest of the story is face saving BS. Or the landlord really can't be bothered, with producing the documents.

My advice, when dealing with feckless people in China is move on. Generally if they don'e want to do it, pushing them just gets you empty promises and more face saving lies.
