I'am new to this forum, so i first one say a big HELLO.
Since we are traveling Yunann in October i've some questions.
What is the best way to travel between Kunming and Shangri-La if you wanna see as much as possible?
We have the following schedule:
2 days Kunming
2 days Dali
3 days Lijiang
1 day Shangri-La
Should we travel with train/bus and then start some tours with the citys as a base?
And/Or should we take a private driver in each city to go to the next one to have some nice stops at our way to the next city?

Best way to travel if you want to see stuff on the way is bus. Trains have the advantage of being available at night, however they only run as far as Lijiang. Personally I wouldn't recommend spending 3 days in Lijiang. 1 or 2 is plenty.
Question: are you travelling between the 1st and 7th of October? If so, it'll be very very busy on the trains buses and tourist spots. Lijiang old town will likely be hellishly busy.
The private driver thing could work if you have the right numbers: e.g. 3 or 4 of you. If you have more or less than that, its gonna get expensive per person.

03.10.-05.10. Dali
05.10.-08.10. Lijiang
08.10.-09.10. Shangrila
What do you thing is a fair price for a private driver between the citys?
We are only two persons, so it is sure more expensive than a bus ride, but maybe it is worth the extra money?
Kunming to Dali - maybe 500. Dali to Lijiang, 400-500. Lijiang to Shangri La - 400-500. These are guesses though, if anyone has real experience of hiring a driver+car to go to these places, they should weigh in with their experience!

No. I'am simply searching for a driver @ the dates.
