Since the records begin with an earthquake in 1925 in Dali, one can clearly see that there a lot more earthquakes in the last 10 years then there have been in the past 40 years.

Although the earthquakes are more frequent now, the scale of the earthquakes are much smaller.

Dali earthquake 1925.

Missionaries reported. There had been so many tremors before it, nobody cared anymore.

Then it struck around 17:30 when evryone making food. Fire..loose..

And tsunami on Erhai. Wiped out several villages.

More ghosts for Dali.

HFCAMPO, I wouldn't place too much stock in those old data points. Surely there were earthquakes between 1925 and 1970, but the government was probably too busy fighting warlords, the Japanese, or the Communists to notice some earthquake that may have hit some remote rural area with poor communications. Back then, there weren't as many concrete buildings or highways to suffer damage, either.

The numbers are also suspect. Why are they all 7s in the early years? Also, anything under 5 doesn't really need to be listed. A 4.3? That's tiny. We have 'em in California every day.

I vividly remember the 2008 earthquake. It was my first. I had moved here the previous month, and my wife and I were experiencing pretty good culture shock. We were fighting and she was saying something like, "It is your fault that we live here." As I screamed back at her, our 12th floor apartment began to sway back and forth. I had never seen walls shake like that before. I about shat my pants and ran down twelve flights of stairs barefoot. After we calmed down, we made our way back to our apartment. That quake did end our fight that day...in fact, I think it ended it for awhile.

I remember the 2008 one very well. I could barely stand up in my condo on the 4th floor. Outside the buildings next to me look like they were made of rubber.

mmm. for personal reasons i bcame preoccupied by earthquakes.

i believe one or we may feel earthquakes coming, but this kind of prophetic skill scares me. b in harmony with elements, earth and what chinese call dao, at plural, may help

b4 fukushima earthquake i sent a message. saying i feared a strong earthquake in chinese himalaya where many friends live

looking at ur list, is true it seems since 2000 or 1988/1989 there are more earthquakes. what s ur take?

1st rule of being a prophet - always make predictions about things that always happen.

2nd rule - make sure your predictions are based on a long time line.

I predict next year a typhoon will hit somewhere in Asia and kill some people.
