The house and the baby are particularly important to fiancee's parents, the car less so unless the fiancee is big about considering herself middle class or maybe upper middle class. Seems to me the (present, anyway) job may be slightly less important than in the US.
Just my impression.
... if you get that far (very right indeed)
I heard China has one of the highest amount of divorces in the world. Something like 60% within the first 2 years...
It's not a myth. It's true!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha.Ha.
What a horrible song! Thankfully the girls who are open minded enough to date foreigners tend to not be so discriminatory!

No problem, where do I sign?
1-Job. hmmm check! (or quasi-job)
2-House... check! I heard some rural property in the middle of nowhere with mold on the walls has a 90 thousand RMB tag
3-Car?? Oh yes, there is an old QQ down in my garage for 20.000 RMB ... Check !
4- Baby Hmm, piece of cake, I just gotta focus... Check!!

Good luck getting married in China without buying a house. Better find somebody whose parents are dead.
Obscene levels of mortgage debt will certainly create stability for the baby. Those parents making these demands must pretty stupid people..i have never heard such a demand, luckily, but considering house prices, interest rates, and average salaries, it seems to me that prices are about 3 times higher than London or NYC. I just checked and housing is not included in chinese CPI
Somebody will have to prove to me that ordinary housing prices are 3 times higher than in London or NYC.
