Carrefour is going through a policy change. Please find the most important changes below:

#1: NO discount without a Member Card!!!
Member cards can be received for free from the booth at the Carrefour entrances. Family cards (same card numbers for multiple people) are available too. All you need to do is fill in a form.
This time we still received the listed shelf prices, but in the next couple weeks things will change for sure and you won't receive any discounts anymore without a member card.

#2: Foreign (credit) cards are now accepted at the "foreign card" checkout.

#3: Designated "Big purchase check-out".
What this means, I don't know. Do you get additional discount with bulk-purchases? Do they accept or have special company cards for invoicing? (Metro style) I don't know yet, but good to find out if anyone can.

Carrefour recently got more aggressive with gathering more customers and chaining them up to be regulars, especially after Metro got more liberal with who they let in their stores (more video adverts and easier access to membership). Carrefour's prices policies have also gone up compared to other stores. They used to be cheaper than Walmart and local supermarkets, but this has changed. My daily carton of milk used to be cheaper there, but now it has jumped up to 3 kuai more than the small shop downstairs.
