Has anyone been to the Stone Forest recently? Is this a good time to go?...as far as throngs of tourists are concerned. I cannot figure out the weather here......I have yet to see an accurate forecast. Is it madness to try and see this in one day? Which is better? bus or train? Thanks!
Never been overnight but I think it would be nice to be able to get up early and see the place, as well as to walk in the surrounding area, before the hordes descend.
Train is better.
Just for future reference. The Stone Forest is well worth the visit...although be prepared to pay the hefty admission to the park price. I went by bus...made pals with 2 Americans and took photos of each other with some amazing backgrounds....we were the only Westerners there that day! Count at least 250 RMB for the day.
@Parisianguy:
What? It's 250 for the entrance ticket? Wow.. My friends mother is coming to visit and she is thinking of taking her there.
How is it in the park? Lots to see and do? Is there a lot of walking, uphill? How long do you need to see it all? Where did you take the bus from and what time?
Sorry about all the questions!
Don't suppose anyone knows if you can get a student discount with a student ID card?
Dont waste your time with tour groups. Mprin, take a black taxi usually 80 yuanrfor
A full cab. Take plenty of snacks and dont eat there. Taking pictures is a bitch, because of the mass amount of tourist.
One of the American girls I was with got a half price admission with the photo student id, although this was viewed with much suspicion. It's always worth a try.
Wear good walking shoes. We had a sunny afternoon...so no slipping.
The amount of stair or uphill climbing is reasonable. I went mid-week, and didn't find it all that crowded.
Thanks for the tips and info guys! Looks like we'll be going mid week then!
@xb6asd: A black cab from KM to the Stone Forest for about 80 kuai? That sounds reasonable. Like per person? Or for the cab?
this was about 3 years ago, im sure the price has jumped. but still cheaper than the tours im sure
